The Advanced Software Engineer (C++, Java) role is fully onsite in Manassas, VA. Compensation is $124,216–$137,803 per year. The engineer joins the Progeny Manassas team developing mission-critical software for U.S. Navy submarine and surface platforms. The role contributes across the software lifecycle, from design and implementation through testing, integration, and issue resolution. Developing and maintaining software components and integrating distributed applications helps deliver reliable mission-critical systems; the position requires a Department of Defense Secret clearance at hire and U.S. citizenship.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain production-quality software using C++, Qt, Java, or Python
• implement components from system and interface requirements
• integrate distributed applications using APIs, AMQP, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and data-driven interfaces
• develop and troubleshoot in Linux
• containerize and deploy applications
• write unit and integration tests and support formal system testing
• diagnose software, networking, data, and integration issues
• participate in reviews, design discussions, Agile planning, and technical meetings
• maintain documentation and follow configuration-management and secure-coding practices.
