The Unit Head / Division Head role is onsite in Newton, MA, with a stated seasonal salary of $7,200 for the nine-week season, equivalent to $20 per hour. The role supports JCC Greater Boston’s summer day camp and its focus on inclusive, joyful experiences for children. The unit leader guides campers and staff to help the camp day run smoothly, safely, and positively. The role combines activity leadership and camper supervision with staff coaching, coordination, and support for camp operations.

What you'll do

• Plan, prepare, and lead age-appropriate activities in a specialty area
• ensure camper safety and well-being
• create an inclusive and supportive environment
• partner with counselors and camp leadership
• maintain and request supplies
• adapt activities to camper needs
• support special events and camp operations
• supervise and evaluate assigned counselors and seasonal staff
• train staff
• schedule and lead staff meetings
• coach and oversee staff.

Why this role

Seasonal position with a daily schedule of 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, including one week of staff training. High school degree and at least one season of teaching or program-planning experience with children are required; college education or equivalent experience is preferred.
