The Seating and Passive Safety Hardware Validation Engineer role is onsite in Foster City, CA. Base salary is $190,000–$228,000 per year. Zoox’s Component and System Hardware Validation team ensures robotaxi components and subsystems meet functional and reliability targets for its autonomous mobility service. The engineer establishes and executes validation from requirements development through report approval for seating, restraints, and airbags. The work helps ensure durability, reliability, and safety targets are met by coordinating testing, analyzing failures, and feeding findings into design improvements.

What you'll do

• Develop and manage test plans for mechanical, electrical, and environmental failure modes in interior trim, seating, and restraint systems
• collaborate with design engineers on requirements and validation plans
• identify test assets, data acquisition systems, and sensors
• analyze and report test results
• support DFMEA and root-cause analysis
• design test fixtures
• manage validation schedules and test asset availability.
