Job overview

The Principal Software Development Engineer, Layer 7 Security & Proxy role is hybrid, with a minimum of three days per week in Zscaler’s Santa Clara, CA office. The annual base salary range is $212,000–$265,000. The role reports to the Director of Software Development Engineering in the Zero Trust Exchange department. The engineer provides technical leadership for Zscaler Internet Access proxy architecture, focusing on Layer 7 protocols and SSL inspection. The role strengthens the codebase and architecture to support scalable delivery of proxy roadmap features.

What you'll do

• Support QUIC/HTTP/3 and HTTP/2 proxy and TLS/SSL architecture
• define and evolve ZIA proxy architecture
• partner with Product Management and engineering on solution design and delivery
• establish reference architectures and design patterns
• provide technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural governance.
