Job overview

The Marine Systems and Mechanical Technician role is onsite in Portland, ME, with compensation of $25–$40 per hour. The technician joins Portland Yacht Services’ Systems Shop, which works on mechanical and onboard systems for recreational and commercial vessels. The role diagnoses, services, repairs, and installs vessel systems, including engines, electrical, plumbing, waste, and HVAC equipment. This work supports vessel system reliability and seasonal commissioning and decommissioning.

What you'll do

• Diagnose, service, and repair inboard marine engines
• perform routine mechanical maintenance
• troubleshoot engine components
• diagnose and repair marine electrical systems
• service 12V and 24V DC and AC shore-power systems
• install and service batteries, charging systems, and inverters
• repair and install freshwater, plumbing, sanitation, waste, and HVAC systems
• service pumps, hoses, and valves
• install marine equipment
• perform seasonal commissioning and decommissioning
• read technical documentation
• document work, parts, and recommended repairs.
