The Senior Embedded Software Engineer — Actuators & Control Systems role is onsite in Redondo Beach, CA. The listed base salary range is $160,000–$280,000 per year. The role supports Impulse Space’s launch vehicle and spacecraft systems. The engineer develops reliable embedded firmware for actuated systems used in rockets and spacecraft. The work contributes to safe, fault-tolerant control by implementing real-time control, interfacing with sensors and motor drivers, and validating production firmware through testing and diagnostics.

What you'll do

• Develop real-time firmware for rocket valves, thrust-vector-control actuators, satellite propulsion, and motor-driven systems
• implement closed-loop position, velocity, torque, and pressure control
• interface with motor drivers and redundant actuators using listed communication protocols
• design safety-critical state machines
• participate in hotfire campaigns, environmental testing, and in-flight diagnostics
• write unit-tested production firmware.
