The Network Engineer, Machine Learning Infrastructure, High-Speed Interconnects role is onsite in Palo Alto, CA. The stated salary range is $180,000–$440,000 per year. SpaceXSI is building a super-intelligence technology stack, including compute infrastructure and AI products such as Grok. The engineer designs and operates high-speed copper and optical network interconnects for large-scale AI training and inference clusters. The role connects workload requirements to network topology and hardware choices, while improving performance, power efficiency, reliability, and cost through validation, analysis, and operational tooling.

What you'll do

• Design, validate, and productize copper and optical connectivity for AI clusters
• onboard and characterize new 1.6T products and optical transceivers
• investigate LPO and LRO opportunities
• evaluate co-packaged and near-packaged engines
• explore new interconnect modalities
• work with vendors on technology roadmaps and delivery
• translate ML training communication patterns into topology and optical reconfigurability requirements
• simulate end-to-end fabric performance
• analyze production failures and corrective actions
• develop tooling and automation for monitoring, telemetry, diagnostics, remediation, and qualification
• track industry standards and emerging technologies.
