Landfill Equipment Operator

Job overview

The Landfill Equipment Operator role is onsite in Duchesne, UT, with a Tuesday–Saturday schedule. Pay is $22–$24 per hour. The operator works under the Landfill Manager to support county landfill operations and compliance with state and federal permits. The role operates and maintains heavy equipment, monitors incoming waste and reclaimed areas, and responds to public questions and concerns. These duties help maintain safe, accessible landfill operations and protect the environment in accordance with applicable requirements.

What you'll do

• Operate graders, compactors, scrapers, backhoes, dozers, and related equipment to move, cover, and compact waste
• maintain landfill access roads
• identify prohibited or hazardous waste
• monitor customer compliance and inspect loads
• respond to public complaints and explain landfill requirements and fees
• service equipment and perform routine maintenance
• assist with landfill projects and, as needed, scale-house or office duties.
