The Teacher – YouthBuild Learning Academy role is onsite at the Samaritan Center in Detroit, MI. Compensation is $45,000–$56,000 per year. SER YouthBuild Learning Academy serves students ages 14–21 who are completing high school graduation requirements while learning a trade. The teacher facilitates instruction in a blended, nontraditional classroom and supports students’ academic progress, attendance, and engagement. Classroom instruction, individualized support, and coordination with colleagues help students work toward curriculum standards and graduation.

What you'll do

• Teach and monitor blended-learning classes
• maintain a classroom conducive to learning
• contact students daily to encourage attendance and engagement
• report attendance and engagement numbers
• redirect behavior and refer persistent issues
• maintain the computer lab
• support students and address academic gaps
• refer students for tutoring or foundational support
• assign lessons and courses, conduct assessments, and track course completion
• communicate with students, colleagues, and parents
• maintain attendance and grade records
• proctor state and local assessments
• follow school policies and protect confidential records.
