Substance Abuse Specialist

The Substance Abuse Specialist position is onsite in Asheville, NC. Pay is $25–$28 per hour. The specialist is a member of the Assertive Community Treatment team at Helping You Heal LLC, supporting people with severe mental health challenges and co-occurring substance use disorders. The role assesses needs, develops substance use goals, and coordinates recovery services as part of psychosocial rehabilitation. Through case management, skills training, and crisis intervention, the specialist supports participants’ recovery, safety, and self-reliance.

What you'll do

• Provide skills training, case management, and crisis intervention
• conduct psychosocial rehabilitation and outreach, including engagement, assessment, goal planning, safety planning, and progress evaluation
• coordinate substance use assessments and treatment
• create and review relapse prevention and safety plans
• connect participants with natural supports and community resources
• document services and progress.

Why this role
