Senior Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Engineer is a hybrid role with up to three onsite days per week in Fairfax, VA. The salary is $150,000–$190,000 per year. The engineer supports enterprise PKI for Department of Defense and federal customers. The role modernizes certificate authority infrastructure and automates certificate lifecycle management at scale, while supporting trust services, Zero Trust initiatives, and post-quantum cryptography planning. It also provides technical leadership and mentorship in mission-critical environments.

What you'll do

• Architect, deploy, administer, and maintain enterprise PKI and Certificate Authority infrastructure, including Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services
• design server certificate strategies across platforms
• automate certificate issuance, renewal, revocation, monitoring, key rotation, and reporting
• troubleshoot TLS/SSL certificates and trust chains
• integrate PKI with directory, cloud, virtualization, and DevSecOps systems
• support machine identity and certificate-based trust initiatives
• support post-quantum cryptography and CNSA 2.0 planning
• maintain compliance with NIST, FIPS, DISA STIGs, and RMF
• participate in certificate-related incident response
• maintain technical documentation and baselines
• mentor junior engineers.
