The chemist performs sample preparation and analytical testing of tobacco products, documents and verifies results, and maintains laboratory procedures and equipment. Accurate, precise testing and communication with client staff support reliable analytical services.

What you'll do

• Prepare samples using wet chemistry techniques and smoking machines
• perform tobacco testing using pH, spectrophotometer, KF, and other laboratory equipment
• document results in notebooks and computer systems
• interpret and update analytical procedures as needed
• calibrate instruments, identify errors and root causes, and apply process improvements
• review and verify data
• communicate with client staff.
