The Director of Underwriting is an onsite, full-time role in Annapolis, MD, with compensation of $110,000–$135,000 per year. Eagle Title is seeking a leader for its Underwriting and Title Examination team who will strengthen underwriting knowledge across the organization. The role exists to guide underwriting decisions and help viable residential and commercial transactions reach closing while protecting clients, employees, underwriters, and Eagle Title. It contributes by developing the team, setting consistent standards, addressing complex and high-risk matters, and improving processes and service.

What you'll do

• Lead, coach, and develop the Underwriting and Title Examination team
• serve as a senior escalation point for complex title, underwriting, and high-risk residential and commercial transactions
• establish underwriting standards and decision-making authority
• maintain policies, procedures, quality controls, and resources
• identify underwriting, fraud, quality, and operational risks
• collaborate with internal teams, title insurance underwriters, and counsel
• use technology, data, training, and process improvement to address problems and reduce handoffs.

Why this role

Juris Doctor and Maryland Bar admission required; 5+ years of title insurance, underwriting, or real estate experience preferred. Experience with multiple title insurance underwriters and title production technology such as Qualia is preferred.
