Lead Teacher, Head Start Preschool (Ages 3–4)

The Lead Teacher, Head Start Preschool (Ages 3–4) role is onsite in Monroe, NC, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Compensation is up to $20.56 per hour. The role supports UCCA Head Start’s work with children and families in the community. The teacher leads classroom learning and care so preschoolers can develop confidence, curiosity, and skills for school. The role works with classroom staff and families to provide a safe, engaging environment and support children’s social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

What you'll do

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities
• create engaging learning environments and functional learning centers
• monitor and assess children’s development and maintain classroom and assessment records
• partner with families through conferences, communication, and home visits
• supervise children in classroom, outdoor, and meal settings
• collaborate with assistant teachers, specialists, and support staff
• support children’s social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development
• comply with Head Start Performance Standards and CACFP requirements.
