The Embedded Software Engineer – Validation role is onsite in Ann Arbor, MI. The starting cash salary range is $160,000–$250,000 per year. The role supports Zipline’s Embedded Platform team, which builds foundational middleware and infrastructure for the flight software stack and autonomous delivery system. The engineer builds automated simulation and hardware-in-the-loop validation infrastructure to verify embedded platform functionality, performance, reliability, and fault tolerance before software reaches aircraft. The work includes test tooling and scenarios, CI workflows, failure investigation, and collaboration with platform engineers to improve testability and system reliability.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, and maintain automated validation infrastructure
• build simulation and hardware-in-the-loop test environments
• develop automated scenarios for platform services
• create stress, endurance, regression, and fault-injection test suites
• collaborate on validation strategies and testability
• build orchestration, execution, reporting, and dashboard tools
• contribute to CI pipelines
• investigate failures
• occasionally improve production embedded software.
