Job overview
The Mining Engineer will assist the Mining Group in all aspects of mine engineering and mining operations. This is an onsite role based in San Gabriel, CA, with a salary range of $105,000 to $135,000 per year. CalPortland is a leading provider of construction materials, and this role supports the mining department. The role exists to optimize mining operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage resource planning. The engineer will contribute to the company's goals by developing mine plans, overseeing projects, and utilizing specialized software to improve efficiency and safety.
What you'll do
- Assist in performing mine engineering and mine planning activities
- Learn and administer all company policies and safety procedures
- Work and communicate with other engineering disciplines
- Develop an understanding of the cement and aggregate manufacturing process
- Estimate mineral deposits and develop life of mine design
- Develop and revise one, five, and life of mine plans using Surpac and MineSched
- Oversee mining projects such as exploratory drilling
- Analyze and evaluate mining operations to optimize equipment usage
- Perform surveying and plant inventory functions
- Interface with plant, corporate personnel, and contractors
- Perform exploration and exploratory work
- Work with the environmental division
- Operate as a commercial drone pilot for aerial survey work.
