The Teaching Assistant — Special Education, Peninsula Campus role is onsite in Newport News, VA, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Compensation is $17–$20 per hour. The Faison Center’s mission is to create transformative opportunities for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. The assistant supports personalized instruction, communication development, and student milestones through one-on-one or small-group teaching, progress tracking, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The role also assists with daily living needs and supports participation in recreational, physical education, and community-based learning activities.

What you'll do

• Teach new skills one-on-one or in small groups across varied settings
• facilitate recreational and physical education activities
• assist with off-campus community-based learning
• collect data to track student progress
• collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on educational and personal goals
• assist with hygiene and toileting as needed
• support individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
