Counselor Assistant

The Counselor Assistant role is onsite in Albany, NY, at Vista House Women and Children’s Reintegration Residence. The stated schedule is Monday–Friday, 4 p.m.–midnight, and pay is $20 per hour. The role supports residents in the organization’s residential program. The assistant monitors residents’ well-being and program compliance, provides encouragement toward client goals, documents shift events, conducts drug screens, and transports clients to appointments and activities. These duties help maintain a safe residence and support residents’ treatment and reintegration needs.

What you'll do

• Monitor clients’ physical, mental, and emotional status
• check residence rooms and common areas for program compliance, health, safety, and security
• report at shift changes
• support residents’ goals
• log calls, visits, and significant events
• transport clients to treatment activities and appointments
• conduct and document urine drug screens
• perform other duties assigned by the Program Manager.

Why this role
