The Preschool Teacher Aide, Hawaiian Immersion role is onsite in Hilo, HI. Compensation is not specified. As part of the Site Team, the aide supports the Keiki Steps program in a family-child interactive preschool classroom and helps create an environment conducive to learning. The aide assists with Hawaiian immersion and Hawaiian-English dual-language early childhood instruction, classroom activities, family and caregiver support, assessments, documentation, and site operations. The role contributes to the program’s curriculum and mission through Hawaiian language and cultural practices and collaboration with families, colleagues, and community partners.

What you'll do

• Support implementation of the Keiki Steps instructional program and Hawaiian-practices-based parenting and child-development curriculum
• support daily Hawaiian cultural activities, practices, and language
• help maintain a positive learning environment across in-person and distance learning
• provide educational support to children and parents or caregivers
• assist with classroom activities, assessments, site setup and cleanup, program files, progress reports, and documentation
• participate in program events, trainings, meetings, and required coursework
• maintain required certifications.
