The Manager, General Ledger – Central/East role is onsite in Chicago, IL. The annual base salary range is $116,000–$158,000. The manager leads a team of five to six accountants within RWE Americas' Finance and Controlling function. RWE Americas develops, constructs, and operates energy projects, including wind, solar, battery storage, and natural gas-powered generation. The role oversees general ledger and financial reporting work, ensuring accurate and timely close activities and audit preparation. It also develops staff and improves accounting and reporting processes to support reliable financial information across the business.

What you'll do

• Supervise and allocate work for a team of five to six accountants
• oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, journal entries, reconciliations, settlements, depreciation, and balance-sheet analysis
• maintain understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structures
• advise staff on non-routine transactions and accounting policies
• improve procedures and resource use
• support internal and external audits and cross-functional projects
• establish close and reconciliation best practices
• and hire, train, and develop accounting staff. Bachelor's degree in accounting and at least eight years of relevant experience, including two or more years managing direct reports, are required
• CPA is preferred.
