The Special Procedure Technologist scrubs and assists the physician during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
What you'll do
- The Special Procedure Technologist demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients served.
- They are able to scrub and assist the physician during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral angiographic studies.
- Additionally, they are responsible for recording and monitoring these cases, as well as understanding hemodynamic measurements and valve area readings.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform contrast media administration according to age- and weight-specific guidelines.
- Sets up sterile trays and maintains a sterile field according to hospital protocol.
- Scrubs and assists the interventional physician during interventional procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of drugs, including their actions, side effects, and contraindications for administration.
- Exhibits the ability to start and maintain IV access.
- Accurately follows physician orders, documents exam completion in Meditech, scans documents, and verifies images in PACS.
- Properly measures and disposes of radioactive waste in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
