The Special Procedure Technologist scrubs and assists the physician during diagnostic and interventional procedures.

What you'll do

• The Special Procedure Technologist demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients served.
• They are able to scrub and assist the physician during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral angiographic studies.
• Additionally, they are responsible for recording and monitoring these cases, as well as understanding hemodynamic measurements and valve area readings.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform contrast media administration according to age- and weight-specific guidelines.
• Sets up sterile trays and maintains a sterile field according to hospital protocol.
• Scrubs and assists the interventional physician during interventional procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge of drugs, including their actions, side effects, and contraindications for administration.
• Exhibits the ability to start and maintain IV access.
• Accurately follows physician orders, documents exam completion in Meditech, scans documents, and verifies images in PACS.
• Properly measures and disposes of radioactive waste in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
