What you'll do

• Respond to emergency calls, assess patients, and provide pre-hospital care within certification and scope of practice
• operate emergency vehicles safely during responses and transports
• collaborate with EMS personnel and Emergency Department clinicians
• assist with assessments, vital signs, procedures, and patient care appropriate to certification
• support resuscitation and airway management within scope
• maintain ambulance readiness, equipment, supplies, and treatment areas
• document patient care
• assist other hospital departments when needed and when EMS responsibilities allow
• support patients and families during emergencies.

Why this role

Requires current Iowa EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic certification, Basic Life Support certification, and an Iowa driver’s license. Paramedics additionally need Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications; neonatal resuscitation certification is required within one year of hire.
