The Director of Engineering, Data role is onsite in San Francisco, CA. Compensation is $260,000–$280,000 per year. Gridware develops grid-monitoring technology intended to improve electrical-grid safety, reliability, and efficiency. The director owns the company-wide data platform and leads its architecture, roadmap, and team development. The role enables business domains to use analytics, supports applied data science and machine learning, and advances platform improvements while existing teams continue to rely on the systems.

What you'll do

• Own data platform ingestion, transformation, raw and sanitized data layers, and architecture
• drive data quality, observability, lineage, and governance
• advance legacy migrations and platform improvements without disrupting dependent teams
• manage a small cross-functional data science team and turn ambiguous questions into decision-ready analysis
• own tooling and support for federated analytics and reporting
• build data foundations for machine learning and applied research
• hire and develop the data organization and engineering leaders
• balance incubation work with platform goals.
