Locomotive Mechanic Electrician

Compensation is $24–$26 per year. The Locomotive Mechanic Electrician is an onsite role located in Marshalltown, IA, responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of locomotive mechanical and electrical systems. This role exists to ensure that locomotive equipment conforms to Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and company specifications. The mechanic performs preventive maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions in diesel engines and electrical components, and completes necessary repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation of the fleet.

What you'll do

• Inspect and troubleshoot locomotive mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ensure compliance with FRA and company safety regulations.
• Perform preventive maintenance on diesel engines, motors, and generators.
• Diagnose malfunctions and replace defective components.
• Complete inspection and repair reports.
• Utilize specialized tools and precision instruments for diagnostics.
