The Medical Assistant, Outpatient Behavioral Health role is onsite in Salt Lake City, UT. Compensation is $20 per hour. Volunteers of America, Utah provides community-supported paths for vulnerable people to improve their lives and increase self-reliance, including programs addressing mental health, substance use, and homelessness. Working with agency prescribers, the Medical Assistant/Care Navigator coordinates administrative and clinical support that helps clients access medication management, primary care, and other services. The role supports appointment utilization, care coordination, and clients’ behavioral health recovery and overall well-being.

What you'll do

• Support APRNs and facilitate communication with clients and clinic staff
• schedule appointments, make reminders, and reschedule as needed
• track medications and assist with patient assistance applications
• facilitate appropriate refills, administer injections, and draw labs when needed
• connect clients with primary care, mental health, addiction treatment, recovery, employment, housing, and social supports
• coordinate care and referrals
• monitor common comorbidities and educate clients and team members about potential treatment and medication side effects
• maintain records, documentation, and billing
• protect confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Why this role
