Domestic Violence Shelter Program Assistant — Part-Time

The Domestic Violence Shelter Program Assistant works onsite in Stuart, Florida, on a part-time schedule of 16–20 hours per week, with Saturday and Sunday shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Compensation is $17 per hour. The role supports SafeSpace’s emergency shelter and 24/7 domestic violence hotline. The assistant provides survivor-centered support and advocacy, helps shelter residents access basic needs and coordinated services, and contributes to safe daily shelter operations. The work also includes hotline response, intakes, referrals, documentation, and coordination with shelter advocates.

What you'll do

• Handle hotline calls with calm, professional, nonjudgmental support
• provide safety planning, referrals, crisis intervention, and emotional support
• orient residents and complete shelter intakes
• coordinate transportation, advocacy appointments, and case management
• maintain confidential participant records
• support meetings, safety walk-throughs, and supply inventory.
