Job overview

The Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) role is an onsite, full-time position in Dyer, IN. Pay is $19–$21 per hour. Cedarhurst Senior Living provides senior living communities focused on resident care and personalized services. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the QMA administers medications and provides direct resident care according to individualized care plans. The role supports residents’ daily living, safety, wellbeing, and independence through observation, documentation, communication, and assistance with care needs.

What you'll do

  • Provide direct resident care and distribute medications according to care plans
  • observe and report condition changes
  • document observations, incidents, interventions, and medication assistance
  • check and record vital signs, weights, and blood sugars as assigned
  • administer and document medications using the five rights
  • provide glucose monitoring and insulin administration if insulin-certified
  • assist with activities of daily living, nutrition, hydration, restorative techniques, transfers, ambulation, and facility activities
  • support fall prevention and medication delivery processes
  • communicate with supervisors, physicians, residents’ families, and the next shift.

Why this role

A high school diploma or equivalent and current state-approved medication aide or technician certification are required. Insulin certification and CPR or BLS certification are preferred. Insulin administration is limited to insulin-certified medication technicians.
