The Arborist Trainee Internship, Field-Based role is onsite in Needham, MA, beginning in Spring–Summer 2027. Compensation is $22–$23 per hour. The Davey Tree Expert Company provides tree care, grounds maintenance, environmental consulting, and utility solutions. Working alongside experienced arborists, climbers, plant health care technicians, and landscape professionals, the intern learns field practices and supports client service and the health and appearance of trees and landscapes. The internship also introduces participants to residential tree-care operations and related business functions.

What you'll do

• Learn and assist with tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and maintenance
• tree and landscape installation
• safe operation of chainsaws, chippers, and other field tools
• plant health care, including deep-root fertilization, soil care, and integrated pest and disease management
• and exposure to residential tree-care operations, client service, sales, management, and leadership fundamentals.
