The Special Counsel, Civil Litigation role offers a flexible hybrid arrangement with Asheville, NC as the home office. Compensation is not specified. The attorney will join Hedrick Gardner Kincheloe & Garofalo LLP’s Civil Litigation practice, supporting the firm’s work defending complex claims and litigation across the Carolinas. The attorney independently manages civil litigation matters from inception through resolution, develops strategies aligned with client objectives, and provides counsel throughout discovery, mediation, arbitration, and trial. The role also contributes to client relationships and the growth of the firm’s Western North Carolina practice.

What you'll do

• Manage a civil litigation caseload
• develop case strategies
• conduct and defend depositions
• draft and argue motions and briefs
• represent clients at mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials
• conduct legal research
• communicate with clients about case developments and risks
• collaborate across practice groups
• mentor junior attorneys.
