This role serves as a key field resource supporting project execution, customer relationships, and operational excellence. By ensuring safety compliance and technical quality, the Field Engineer contributes to the successful delivery of electrical power system projects.
What you'll do
- Independently perform acceptance, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning testing of electrical power equipment and systems.
- Test, inspect, evaluate, troubleshoot, maintain, and document: Low-, medium-, and high-voltage switchgear, Protective relays, Power transformers, Instrument transformers, Circuit breakers, Motor control centers, Automatic transfer switches, Power cables, Battery systems, Grounding systems, Protective and control systems.
- Analyze test data and determine equipment condition, serviceability, and recommended corrective actions.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical power systems and equipment.
- Lead field activities on assigned projects and coordinate work with customers, project managers, and subcontractors.
- Review project specifications, testing procedures, one-line diagrams, and construction documents.
- Perform and supervise electrical switching activities within assigned qualifications and company procedures.
- Prepare and review field reports, test documentation, deficiency reports, and technical recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E requirements, and industry standards.
- Conduct jobsite safety meetings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and pre-task planning activities.
- Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Testing Technician I and Testing Technician II personnel.
- Support emergency response activities, outages, startup activities, commissioning projects, and critical shutdowns.
- Serve as a technical resource for customers and internal stakeholders.
