Independent Living Skills Instructor

The Independent Living Skills Instructor role is based in Oakland, California, serving clients across Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The work is conducted with clients in their homes and communities. Compensation is $20–$25 per hour. Thrive Support Services helps adults with developmental disabilities live in their chosen homes and communities. The instructor works one-to-one with clients to build practical skills and support personal goals for independence and community participation. The role combines individualized instruction with community outings and coordination with the team, helping clients apply skills in everyday settings.

What you'll do

• Work with a caseload of approximately 3–6 clients
• teach and support goals involving money management, health and medication management, cooking, public transportation, housing, benefits, community involvement, socialization, and household maintenance
• plan and participate in at least one community outing per month with each client
• drive clients to appointments and errands as needed
• maintain a valid driver’s license, vehicle, and required auto insurance
• pass DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance.
