Food Services Steward — McMurdo Station, Austral Winter

The Food Services Steward role is onsite at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, for the Austral Winter season from March through October 2027. Compensation is $750–$788 per week. The role supports Gana-A’Yoo Services Corporation’s food-service work for the National Science Foundation-managed United States Antarctic Program. The steward supports food production and service by maintaining sanitation, replenishing supplies, cleaning equipment and service areas, and assisting with meal operations. These duties help provide safe, organized food service for the station community and support the program’s operational commitments.

What you'll do

• Maintain safety and sanitation in kitchen, dining, and service areas
• clean equipment and organize storage
• replenish food and non-food items
• wash dishes, pots, and pans and monitor wash-cycle conditions
• prepare beverages and frozen dessert mixes
• maintain clean work areas
• handle food presentation, leftovers, thawing, labeling, and waste according to procedures
• monitor beverage supplies
• coordinate pot-washing and bagged lunches as directed
• comply with environmental health, safety, and quality requirements
• attend scheduled meetings.
