Contract Specialist

The Contract Specialist role is hybrid remote, based in Austin, TX. Compensation is $48 per hour. The position supports a state agency’s Behavioral Health Services Division and its Substance Use Contract Management team, which manages contracts funding treatment and recovery programs across Texas. The specialist develops and manages contracts, evaluates contract status and renewals, applies relevant policies and regulations, and analyzes fiscal data for compliance and cost-effectiveness. The work helps ensure contracts are executed accurately and support delivery of substance use treatment and recovery services.

What you'll do

• Develop, process, and manage contracts for substance use treatment and recovery programs
• evaluate contracts and recommend status, renewals, and improvements
• apply state and federal policies and regulations
• analyze fiscal data for compliance and cost-effectiveness
• draft and edit contract requirements and amendments
• negotiate terms with providers and stakeholders
• collaborate with program staff, legal teams, and external partners.
