Wastewater Operator — Public Works

The Wastewater Operator role is onsite in Katy, TX. Pay is $22.10–$27.62 per hour. The position supports the City of Katy Public Works wastewater team and helps maintain essential municipal wastewater services and regulatory compliance. The operator monitors and maintains treatment facilities, conducts sampling and testing, completes required reporting, and assists with collection-system and lift-station maintenance. As critical infrastructure personnel, the operator may be required to support City operations during emergencies or catastrophic events.

What you'll do

• Monitor plant equipment and maintain treatment systems
• switch pumps and clean blower filters
• check oil levels and coordinate sludge removal
• coordinate laboratory sampling and conduct in-house chlorine and ammonia sampling
• complete state-required paperwork and oversee the Storm Water Prevention Plan
• assist with maintenance and repair of collection systems, lift stations, sewer lines, and manholes
• perform other duties as required
• respond to emergencies or catastrophic events when required.
