• Make rounds on patients in inpatient units and see new admissions during coverage
• determine eligibility or ineligibility of referred patients
• provide disease, pain, and symptom management
• deliver direct medical care
• provide clinical and public education about hospice care
• guide hospice nurse practitioners or nurses in direct patient care.
