Leak Detection / Corrosion Technician

The Leak Detection / Corrosion Technician role is onsite in Clearwater, FL, with field work. Pay is $23–$25 per hour, depending on experience. Benchmark provides natural gas leak detection and corrosion services to support the safety and integrity of underground natural gas infrastructure. The technician conducts leak surveys and corrosion inspections, documents findings, and communicates results to utility clients and internal teams. Following safety protocols and regulatory requirements helps protect infrastructure and support reliable utility service.

What you'll do

• Conduct walking or mobile leak surveys using detection instruments
• identify and classify leaks according to DOT and company standards
• inspect exposed piping for atmospheric corrosion and environmental exposure
• apply or recommend corrosion prevention coatings as needed
• maintain and calibrate equipment
• document findings using GIS mapping tools and mobile reporting apps
• communicate results
• follow safety and regulatory requirements.
