National Security & Global Trade Associate Attorney is a full-time, hybrid role in Washington, DC. The stated salary range is $225,000–$260,000 per year. Direct Counsel is recruiting for an Am Law firm’s nationally recognized National Security & Global Trade practice, which advises multinational companies on customs, trade regulations, import compliance, and supply chain matters. The attorney advises clients on customs and international trade issues, represents them in agency proceedings and litigation, and prepares legal and compliance materials. The role contributes to client compliance and trade strategy while collaborating with multidisciplinary legal teams.

What you'll do

• Advise on tariff classification, customs valuation, country of origin, marking requirements, and trade preference programs
• counsel on import compliance, supply chain optimization, and tariff mitigation. Represent clients before U.S. Customs and Border Protection in rulings, protests, audits, disclosures, and enforcement actions
• assist with customs litigation
• draft memoranda, policies, submissions, and advisories
• monitor regulatory developments and participate in business development.
