What you'll do

• Interview patients or families at bedside to obtain demographic and medical information and enter it into computer records
• obtain and enter insurance details and notify appropriate personnel when needed
• maintain confidentiality
• secure required signatures and prepare and distribute forms
• perform clerical tasks including filing, calls, copying, and message relay
• inform patients and families about hospital procedures
• coordinate routine information with patient-care areas
• register patients to beds according to established priorities and contact personnel for transportation
• may assist with patient transport, process inpatient transfers, and schedule follow-up testing
• collect payments when possible and assist with financial-assistance applications when appropriate.
