The Registered Nurse (RN) — Family Practice role is onsite in San Antonio, TX, supporting Defense Health Agency Military Treatment Facilities in the Joint Base San Antonio healthcare market. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, with nine-hour shifts including a one-hour unpaid lunch, not exceeding 40 hours per week or 80 hours every two weeks. Compensation is not specified. The role provides care to military members, beneficiaries, and their families as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. The RN provides ambulatory and primary-care nursing services to support patient health and appropriate clinical outcomes. The role coordinates care, assesses and educates patients, delivers nursing interventions, triages concerns, documents encounters, and collaborates with clinicians and other team members.
What you'll do
- Coordinate patient care with physicians and other healthcare professionals
- perform physical examinations and obtain health histories
- provide health promotion, counseling, and education
- administer medications and provide wound care and other nursing interventions
- respond appropriately to adverse signs and emergencies
- arrange referrals and coordinate specialty care
- perform or assist with clinic procedures including catheterizations, oxygen administration, visual acuity testing, EKGs, eye and ear irrigation, tympanograms, splinting, and phlebotomy
- provide telephone and in-person triage
- document encounters in electronic medical records
- operate and monitor clinical equipment
- participate in orientation and training
- comply with facility policies, infection-control standards, patient-safety requirements, and nursing standards.

Why this role
Requires a BSN from an NLNAC- or CCNE-accredited nursing program, three years of post-graduation nursing experience, at least 24 months of primary-care clinic experience within the last 48 months, an active unrestricted RN license, and current BLS certification. Military or federal healthcare experience, TRICARE knowledge, and MHS GENESIS experience are preferred.
