The Aircraft Mechanic IV — X-BAT Maintenance role is onsite in Mundelein, IL. Pay is $41–$61 per hour. Shield AI develops intelligent systems intended to protect service members and civilians; this position supports development and testing of its X-BAT autonomous VTOL jet aircraft. The mechanic performs advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, modifications, and ground-test support to maintain aircraft readiness and safe test operations. Close coordination with engineering and test personnel, accurate records, and mentorship of less-experienced technicians contribute to the program’s development and test goals.

What you'll do

• Perform maintenance, inspections, servicing, repairs, and component replacement on propulsion, flight-control, mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems
• support aircraft assembly, integration, modifications, and instrumentation installation
• conduct pre- and post-test inspections
• support ground-test activities
• diagnose discrepancies using technical documentation and diagnostic equipment
• maintain records and configuration status
• follow test safety plans and hazard controls
• maintain tool accountability and ground-support equipment
• mentor less-experienced technicians
• support field-test deployments and aircraft recovery.
