Systems Engineer III

Job overview

The Systems Engineer III role is onsite in Dahlgren, VA, with partial telework potential of two days per week. Pay is $130,000–$160,000 per year. The role supports IT services for systems engineering and information management across major Department of Defense programs, including mission-critical operations. The engineer contributes across the software development life cycle and systems infrastructure, integrating technologies, maintaining availability and security, and providing second- and third-level support. The work supports customer missions through reliable, tested software and systems; an active Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.

What you'll do

• Execute the software development life cycle from preliminary analysis through testing and deployment
• develop flowcharts, layouts, and documentation
• write testable code and specifications
• integrate software components
• develop verification plans and quality assurance procedures
• deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
• manage and monitor systems and infrastructure
• install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, applications, and management tools
• monitor availability and performance
• maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
• write custom scripts
• participate in information and operational support system design
• provide second- and third-level support
• liaise with vendors and IT personnel.
