Medical Assistant – On-Call Team

The Medical Assistant – On-Call Team role is onsite in Bakersfield, CA. Compensation is $16.90 per hour for compensable restricted on-call time and $22.00 per hour for active response and in-center work. Agile Occupational Medicine provides occupational health services, including work injury care and employer services. The assistant monitors the on-call phone and supports the designated provider when an in-person visit is needed. The role helps deliver timely patient intake, clinical support within the medical assistant’s scope, checkout, and accurate documentation while following escalation and safety procedures.

What you'll do

• Carry and monitor the on-call phone and respond promptly
• gather patient and client information for triage within MA scope and approved protocols
• contact the on-call provider for clinical direction
• report to the Bakersfield center within 30 minutes when directed
• register patients and prepare charts
• perform provider-directed clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and administering medications
• assist with evaluations, blood draws, and procedures
• support patient education and checkout
• maintain clean work areas and secure the building
• accurately record work time and documentation
• follow safety, escalation, regulatory, and company procedures.

Why this role

40 hours per week with rotating overnight and weekend on-call shifts. Available shifts include Monday–Friday 5:30 PM–1:30 AM or 1:30 AM–7:30 AM, and Saturday–Sunday 7:30 AM–3:30 PM, 3:30 PM–11:30 PM, or 11:30 PM–7:30 AM. Must be able to reach the center within 30 minutes when called.
