Staff Accountant

Job overview

The Staff Accountant role is onsite in Sparta, NJ. Compensation is $65,000–$80,000 annually. CP Engineers provides site/civil, water/wastewater, municipal, MEP, and construction management and administration services. The accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations, payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting, and client billing. The role works with accounting, operations, project management, and leadership to maintain accurate financial information, meet reporting deadlines, and improve accounting workflows.

What you'll do

• Process biweekly payroll through ADP, review data, coordinate approvals, maintain records, and respond to payroll inquiries
• prepare utilization and revenue reports
• manage accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, approvals, payments, and vendor records
• assist with monthly client billing and supporting documentation
• maintain accounting records and reconciliations
• support month-end activities and internal reporting
• communicate with vendors, employees, project managers, and stakeholders
• identify process improvements
• provide backup accounting and administrative support.
