Arborist Trainee Internship

Job overview

The Arborist Trainee Internship is onsite in Chantilly, VA, with compensation of $22–$23 per hour. The field-based internship begins in spring–summer 2027. The Davey Tree Expert Company provides tree care, grounds maintenance, environmental consulting, and utility solutions. The intern learns arboriculture and green-industry work alongside experienced arborists, climbers, plant-health-care technicians, and landscape professionals. Field assignments and training build practical skills while supporting client service and the health and beauty of trees and landscapes.

What you'll do

• Learn and assist with tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and maintenance
• support tree and landscape installation
• learn safe operation of chainsaws, chippers, and other field tools
• participate in plant health care, including deep-root fertilization, soil care, and integrated pest and disease management
• gain exposure to residential tree-care operations, client service, sales, management, and leadership fundamentals.
