Professional Tutor, English and Reading

The Professional Tutor, English and Reading role is onsite in Buffalo, NY, with four hours per week available for online appointments. Compensation is $20–$25 per hour. The role supports student success at Trocaire College. The tutor provides individualized literacy instruction and academic support to help students strengthen reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and study strategies. The role supplements faculty instruction and helps students set academic goals, access learning resources, and navigate academic challenges.

What you'll do

• Provide personalized instruction in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and vocabulary
• model and guide academic skills and content knowledge
• support students experiencing academic difficulties
• help students develop academic goals and study strategies on a voluntary basis
• complete session logs, timesheets, and required forms
• supplement faculty instruction and gather learning resources
• promote tutoring services on campus
• meet with the director at least three times per semester
• be available for four hours per week of online appointments.
