The Fire Instructor (Part-Time) role is onsite in Wayne, NJ. The minimum hourly pay is $25. Classes are held on weekdays, evenings, and weekends. The instructor supports the Public Safety Academy. The role prepares recruits and in-service personnel to use firefighting methods and equipment, then evaluates their skills and knowledge through written, oral, physical, and simulated-incident assessments.

What you'll do

• Prepare fire training programs
• demonstrate firefighting apparatus and equipment, including search and rescue tools, water-flow appliances, portable pumps, power saws, and self-contained breathing apparatus
• prepare written, oral, and physical examinations
• evaluate recruits and in-service personnel
• provide feedback after simulated fire incidents
• perform related duties as assigned.

Why this role

Requires age 21 or older, three years of experience as a New Jersey-certified Firefighter 1, completion of the required Fire Instructor I instructional program, and passing the Instructor Level 1 written and skills examinations. A background check is required.
