Senior Machine Design Engineer

The Senior Machine Design Engineer role is onsite at Space Kinetic’s headquarters in El Segundo, California. Pay is $120,000–$160,000 per year. Space Kinetic is developing a space-operations architecture intended to reduce reliance on consumable fuel. The engineer designs, analyzes, prototypes, and validates complex machines, precision mechanisms, and electromechanical systems. The role takes hardware from requirements and concept through qualification and production to deliver flight-ready systems.

What you'll do

• Develop mechanical architectures and concepts
• own hardware from requirements and trade studies through design, prototyping, qualification, and production
• perform stress, fatigue, deflection, thermal expansion, and tolerance calculations
• select and integrate mechanical components
• create SolidWorks models and manufacturing drawings
• apply design-for-manufacturing and assembly principles
• build and test prototypes
• investigate failures and implement corrective actions
• support vibration, shock, and thermal-vacuum testing.
