What you'll do

• Review medical histories and gather information as needed
• evaluate patients’ emotional, behavioral, and mental states
• identify mental disorders and determine treatments
• develop care plans
• prescribe medications
• analyze medical tests and track progress
• coordinate with healthcare professionals when hospitalization is required
• advise patients on coping with mental health conditions
• stay current on medical issues and treatments.
