Executive Sous Chef

The Executive Sous Chef role is onsite in Ann Arbor, MI. Compensation is $75,000–$85,000 per year. The role supports Aventura’s high-volume kitchen, which features Spanish-inspired food, wood-fired cooking, and a team-focused service environment. Working with the Executive Chef, the sous chef leads daily back-of-house operations and develops the culinary team. Strong kitchen systems, food quality, organization, and service execution help maintain consistent operations and hospitality.

What you'll do

• Lead daily back-of-house operations alongside the Executive Chef
• coach and develop cooks, sous chefs, and kitchen leaders
• maintain food quality, cleanliness, organization, and execution
• assist with scheduling, ordering, inventory, prep systems, and labor controls
• lead line execution and expo
• support onboarding and training
• maintain food safety and sanitation
• organize prep and station readiness
• monitor product quality and kitchen readiness
• identify operational improvements
• assist with interviewing and hiring
• manage service flow and labor deployment during high-volume periods and special events.
