The Battalion Chief, Emergency Services Coordinator role is an onsite position in Fredericksburg, VA. The starting salary is $92,503–$150,103 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The role oversees the City of Fredericksburg’s emergency management program and supports community preparedness and resilience. The position coordinates emergency planning and response across City departments and external stakeholders, maintains Emergency Operations Center readiness, and manages grant and resource efforts. It also supports public communication and serves as the locality’s point of contact for disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

What you'll do

• Provide situational awareness and recommendations to City Management
• coordinate disaster mitigation, planning, preparedness, response, and recovery
• maintain Emergency Operations Center readiness and serve as its manager when activated
• help develop and maintain emergency plans
• represent the City on the Regional Emergency Planning Committee
• apply for and manage state and federal grants
• coordinate emergency resource inventories and equipment acquisition
• and support crisis communications and public engagement.
